After a two week cold, I finally have my taste buds back. I have a backlog of samples to review and I’m going to start with the 2008 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection.
Starting tomorrow, I’m going to review one each day for the next five days. I’ll be comparing each whiskey with previous releases too, so this should be fun. First up: Sazerac Rye 18 year old.

John, are these out in stores yet? I’ve been away from the local and want to know if I should bother visiting.
I was told they will get into circulation late October, so the retailers who are on the distribution list should be getting the whiskeys soon.
lsd, just a word of warning; I was talking to some retailers for an article on American whiskeys not long ago, and more than one of them mentioned customers who somehow knew the arrival schedule of the Antique Collection and almost literally followed the delivery truck from store to store, buying up their favorites. This is not behavior I condone; it’s kind of piggish. So you might want to talk to your store about reserving some.
I am glad and proud to announce that I have a 1930’s bottle of Geo T. Stagg.
